Aggressive cleaning is not the solution for impure skin

A new day, there's a lot coming up, but you're well prepared for it. Just not on one thing: pimples. But that they always show up when you least need them... If you suffer from blemished skin, nothing just feels right. Trying to get rid of pimples sometimes makes everything worse.

The problem: We associate oily skin with pimples and we instinctively want to degrease it. The skin defends itself against this with even more fat. In addition, dry skin can also suddenly bloom. Aggressive degreasing then throws it completely off course. Rough cleaning does not lead to the goal for either skin type. Nevertheless, both require different measures. The first thing to do is find out which category your skin falls into.

Pimples appear in large numbers on impure skin. This often happens without prior notice. As soon as the first pimples heal, new ones sprout, sometimes for weeks. They range from dark blackheads to red bumps and purulent pimples. However, it is possible that your skin is rather dry. How do you find out?

Skin type Dry or oily? A self-check

If you have blemished and dry skin, one or more of the following signs will sound familiar:

  • You have more spots or blemishes, but rather fine pores around them.
  • Your face is tight or itchy.
  • You can see fine dry lines in places.
  • You have rough spots.

Do you recognize yourself here? Read on Dry and blemished skin !

In the case of greasy and impure skin, on the other hand, you know one or more of these symptoms:

  • Your skin is shiny.
  • The pores are large and clearly visible.
  • Foci of inflammation with a yellowish crust form.
  • Your skin is often pale or sallow.

That sounds like your skin? Let's continue at Oily and impure skin.

Care routine for dry AND impure skin

Why does dry skin become impure? Your skin has a natural protective layer that keeps bacteria out and locks in moisture. It consists of the outer skin cells and the sebum or sebum that holds them together like mortar. But this skin barrier can become porous. For example, if your skin produces too little sebum for some reason. Or by cleaning agents that wash out this 'mortar'.Moisture now escapes more quickly through a perforated protective barrier. Feelings of tension, irritation and visible traces occur.

And the blemishes? When the protective shield is weakened, your skin is vulnerable from two directions, from the inside and the outside. From there bacteria and dust now have easy play. They can pass through the barrier and nest underneath. Since they feed on skin sebum, they take away the opportunity for the skin barrier to regenerate. Your skin becomes even more vulnerable and impurities multiply.

This is how you properly care for dry and impure skin

With dry skin, blemishes are primarily closely related to a lack of fat. Degreasing cleaning is taboo here. Secondly, however, it usually also lacks moisture, as this escapes too quickly through the perforated skin barrier. So give your skin a jump start to repair its protective layer. And free them from additional dirt, but very gently. Your care routine looks like this:

Dry and blemished skin – your morning care routine

  1. CLEAN: Wash face and neck with lukewarm water.
  2. only
  3. CARE: Your skin will be happy about the nourishing facial oil, which provides it with lipids and antioxidants for regeneration and against cell damage. Combine it with the moisturizing face serum so that your skin also gets its moisture balance under control.

Even if it's difficult: Avoid peelings and foaming washing gels, because they dry out a lot.

Dry and impure skin – your care routine in the evening

  1. CLEAN: Did you go out without makeup? Then just wash your face with lukewarm water.
You can remove make-up gently and thoroughly with the make-up remover thanks to natural oils with a low degree of comedogenicity. It is best to use the make-up remover oil with the Oil Cleansing Method to clean your skin particularly deep into the pores.
  2. CARE: Your skin regenerates itself overnight. Therefore, do without a heavy night cream. Better apply our oil-free and moisturizing face serum.

Dry skin and impure skin - special care

Once a week you can treat your blemished skin to a gentle clay mask. Use white (kaolin) or pink clay, because they are particularly gentle. Clay is a mineral supplier for your skin. It refines the complexion and makes you look fresh. Avoid eyes and mouth and rinse with plenty of lukewarm water before the mask has completely dried. You can get pure clay in the pharmacy.

Care routine for oily AND impure skin

When greasy skin tends to develop pimples, the cells can no longer keep up with removing the excess sebum. It connects with dead skin cells, becomes tough and clogs the pores on the surface like a small, dark cork. Underneath, there is congestion, because the skin continues to produce sebum. Bacteria now find bulging pantries and multiply. This can lead to reddish foci of inflammation or purulent pimples.

Since overly active sebum production is the root of the problem, many resort to strong degreasing washing gels, peelings and the like. However, the skin reacts by becoming even more greasy. Instead of solving the problem, the traffic jam gets worse. At the same time, the skin barrier becomes more unstable. As a result, the skin loses too much moisture and the door and gate for bacteria are open.

The better way is to support your skin's self-cleansing function. She needs help removing impurities and dead skin cells. The sebum must be made to flow again, and that through a better supply of moisture. Ingredients with anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects also support the healing of pimples.

Oily and impure skin - your care routine in the morning

  1. CLEANING: Even if you are told from all sides that you should clean your oily skin with care products, please wash your face ONLY with lukewarm water, even if your skin has produced a lot of sebum overnight.
  2. NARE: Combine the moisturizing face serum with the nourishing face oil especially for impure skin. The active ingredients play an important role here: jojoba oil and black cumin oil have a balancing effect, inhibit inflammation and have an antibacterial effect. Avoid highly comedogenic ingredients (more on that below)!

Oily and impure skin - your care routine in the evening

  1. CLEAN: Did you go out without make-up today? Then wash the face ONLY with lukewarm water.
You can remove make-up from your pores very thoroughly with an oil-based cleaner, including waterproof mascara. If you are already using coconut oil, then it is better to replace it with our Make-Up Remover, because coconut oil has a comedogenic effect, i.e. it clogs the pores. It is best to use the make-up remover oil with the Oil Cleansing Method. This cleans your pores deeply without signaling the skin to produce more sebum. This method also helps reduce calluses.
  2. CARE: The light, non-greasy facial serum with soothing rose water and moisturizing hyaluronic acid balances out a lack of moisture and is your ideal night care for blemished skin.

Oily skin and blemished skin deserve special treatment, but please be gentle:

  1. Treat yourself to a clarifying mask with green clay 1 to 2 times a week, avoid eyes and mouth. Rinse thoroughly with water before it dries up! You can get pure clay in the health food store or in the pharmacy.
  2. A facial steam bath frees the pores. Fill the spaghetti saucepan 2 fingers deep with water and bring to the boil. A teaspoon of salt or a bag of chamomile tea provide a disinfecting effect. Remove from the stove, hold your face in the steam - not too close or you'll scald yourself - towel over it and steam for 10 minutes. Then rinse your face with cold water and apply the FIVE face serum. Use no more than once a week!
  3. If you have oily skin, peeling is also allowed. However, in large quantities – 1 to 2 times a week – so as not to unnecessarily stimulate sebum production.

Comedogenic ingredients - caution, constipating!

Oils differ in a whole range of properties. You don't want all of them for your already impure skin. Comedogenic ingredients clog the pores and impede the natural function of the skin. Tallow and dirt are no longer transported away, congestion occurs and a paradise for bacteria arises. If you have impure skin, you would prefer to avoid strong comedogenic oils and ingredients. However, it must be said that not all substances have the same comedogenic effect on all people and there are no reliable studies on the comedogenicity of ingredients. It is therefore possible that, for example, your girlfriend always uses coconut oil to remove make-up and loves it, but hers does pores clogged.

Why highly comedogenic? Only a few oils are not comedogenic at all, most show this effect in gradations. Therefore, comedogenicity is usually rated on a scale from 0 to 5.

Non-slightly comedogenic:

  • Shea butter
  • Argan oil
  • Jojoba oil
  • Apricot kernel oil
  • Wild Rose Oil
  • Almond Oil
  • squalane
  • Tea tree oil (fights isolated spotted pimples)

Medium to strong comedogenic:

  • Coconut oil
  • Olive Oil
  • Vaseline
  • Mineral Oil
  • Silicone Oil

Better to care for it consciously than to test it indiscriminately

Leaving the house with impure skin can be quite an effort. With this skin condition, it is all the more important not to try out indiscriminate remedies and measures out of sheer desperation. The motto "a lot helps a lot" is very, very rarely true in skin care.

Instead, it's worth taking a close look at the INCI list of your products: Do you find ingredients in the first three places of the INCI that are highly comedogenic? Does it provide enough moisture? Does it help fight bacteria and inflammation so your skin heals faster? Combine the right care with a dash of patience. This is how you quickly restore your skin's balance.
