Facial care routine: Essential tips for every skin type

Of course, it's ideal if you know your skin type, more on that below. However, what we were able to crystallize in countless skin consultations are a few basics that make up a good facial care routine. They can help the skin to stay in balance or - if it is already out of balance - to find its way back to it. They are universally applicable to every skin type and are crucial for a good skin care routine.

So don't let yourself go crazy if you're not sure about your skin type, but trust the four basic rules and use them to take your facial care routine to the next level. These are our top 4 tips:

1. Use a mild facial cleanser

Cleansing is the greatest way to calm skin that is out of balance. That's why it's the focus of our tips. However, by this we do not mean intensively cleansing the skin with x products. No, in the morning we recommend nothing other than lots of lukewarm water for all skin conditions.

Things look a little different in the evening, because make-up, sunscreen and everyday impurities should always be removed without exception. Your product is our FIVE make-up remover . Have you just lounged on the sofa all day without makeup? Then, as an exception, it is sufficient to wash your face with lukewarm water in the evening.

2. (Almost) every skin needs moisture

Usually only very young skin can survive without the external supply of moisturizing serums and gels. For everyone else, it is essential in the facial care routine. Moisture is provided to your skin by all products that have a mostly transparent and gel-like texture and a high proportion of water or plant water. The watery components are bound by hyaluronic acid and glycerin - a gel is created. The water-binding abilities of these substances mean that moisture is retained on your skin for a longer period of time. Our product for this is the FIVE facial serum .

Good to know: Oils or other waterless products are not moisturizing, but rather moisture-retaining. They seal the skin slightly and prevent water stored in your skin from evaporating too quickly to the outside.

3. Avoid over-cared skin

Our skin is an organ that is sometimes easy to forget. It has countless mechanisms that ensure optimal balance between inside and outside. If we intervene too strongly in this system, the skin falls out of balance, becomes sensitive, impure and - yes, unfortunately - ages faster. It is therefore important to find the balance between supportive but not overloading skin care.

Understand the difference between skin type and skin condition

You may never be completely clear about your skin type. This is often not so easy to differentiate and is influenced by temporary skin conditions such as impure skin or dehydrated skin over the course of life. But this is no reason to worry; after reading, you will certainly notice a trend and, with the right tips, you will be able to put together a facial care routine that suits you best.

As a first step , find out the general tendency of your skin. To do this, don't look at your current skin condition, but rather think about what your skin was like when you were 20 or - if you can't remember - over the last few years. To do this, imagine a pendulum. Is it more in the area of ​​oily skin, is the pendulum in the middle for normal skin or does it tend towards the area of ​​dry skin? Have you been able to identify a trend? If so, good. If not, that's good, your skin type seems to be somewhere in the middle, normal skin or combination skin.
